We are a seven day a week entertainment venue with a range of racing and non-racing offerings including dining facilities, large function & conference rooms, 41 room four-star hotel, busy gaming lounge and sports bar & TAB.

THE OPPORTUNITY
We’re looking for a Duty Manager to oversee daily operations at MEP, including the Sports Bar/TAB. You’ll lead a dedicated team, ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, and maintain high standards in customer service and venue operations across a diverse range of facilities. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional experiences for both guests and staff.
People Management:
Lead and motivate a team of staff, ensuring they conduct their duties in a competent, friendly, and efficient manner. Communicate MEP’s policies, strategies, and goals while promoting teamwork, professionalism, and adherence to uniform and dress code standards. Recognize and reward good performance, and support training and development needs. Ensure staff compliance with venue policies and regulatory requirements, reporting any misconduct when necessary.
Customer Service:
Ensure that MEP’s customer service standards are met and consistently upheld. Take ownership of resolving guest concerns, ensuring a positive experience for all patrons. Demonstrate discretion in handling sensitive situations and deliver personalized service to meet guest needs.
Operations Management:
Oversee compliance with RSA, RSG, TAB, VGCCC, and Liquor Control Victoria regulations. Conduct daily checks to ensure all aspects of the venue are operating in line with legal and safety standards. Manage cash controls, monitor stock levels, and ensure proper financial reporting and reconciliation. Support senior management with planning, task allocation, and resource management. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for operational efficiency and guest satisfaction.
Financial Management & Cash Control:
Responsible for accurate reconciliation of tills, System One, and TAB systems, investigating discrepancies and reporting variances. Manage ATM funds, cash handling procedures, and stock control to ensure smooth financial operations. Monitor the strong room and oversee Armaguard collections. Maintain strict adherence to cash handling policies and report any variances to the Venue Manager.
Venue Presentation & Security:
Ensure the venue’s appearance and presentation meet high standards through regular inspections and effective supervision during operating hours. Manage security requirements, including monitoring security cameras and ensuring all safety systems are functioning correctly. Respond appropriately to emergencies, including fire, illness, or security threats.
